PACCUCOA's Dr. Navarro is 2012 Juran Medal Awardee

Dr. Rosita L. Navarro, chairman of the Phil. Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACCUCOA), received the this year's Juran Medal Award.

At the 24th National Quality Forum, Dr. Navarro spoke of how she has been inspired by the teachings of Dr. Joseph Juran in her work as a professional, not realizing that she will one day be a recipient of an award in his name. She was joined by a number of colleagues from CEU and the PACCUCOA who honored her with flowers.

Dr. Navarro won on account of her personal involvement and contributions in defining and implementing various quality-related initiatives, initially for her organization -- the CEU -- and eventually, to the rest of the country through the PACCUCOA.

It was during her presidency when CEU garnered the Philippine Quality Award - Proficiency in Quality Management, the first non-sectarian private university to do so. As PACCUCOA Chairman, Dr. Navarro mobilized and transformed the organization, resulting in ISO certifications and consistent results for a period over a five-year period, leading to the certification of 988 degree programs and 145 colleges and university across the country.

Presenting the President' Report for the First Half of 2012

The first half of the year was another exciting period for PSQ. Several activities that aim to drive and improve competitiveness of Philippine firms were rolled out. Interest among members has also been sustained and this can be seen in the attendance in the different events that were held during the first 6 months of the year.

What a beautiful day to spend one Quality Afternoon with the quality experts and fellow quality practitioners who were on tenterhooks to hear what our guest speakers would share about their expertise and experiences on their PQA journey. Added to the excitement was the Induction and Oath taking ceremony for the new members presided by Ms. Angie Fraginal, Vice President for External assisted by the Chairperson for the Membership committee, Ms. Chie Agcopra.
