The JURAN MEDAL

DR. JOSEPH JURAN, FATHER OF QUALITY

The Juran Medal is awarded by the Philippine Society for Quality (PSQ), Inc. to a senior executive with significant contributions to quality management in the Philippines. The nominees are judged based on criteria that measure personal involvement and contributions in the field of quality that have benefitted his/her organization as well as influenced the course of organizations outside his/her own.

The Award honors Dr. Joseph M. Juran for his worldwide contributions to quality. His ideas initially revolutionized the practice of quality and have now become generic to quality practitioners.

Qualifications include: a senior executive in his organization; worked for at least five years, at the time of his nomination, for an organization operating in the Philippines; not a member of the Juran Medal Committee, an assessor or judge for the year of nomination and a good citizen and a recognized member in the business and social community.

The award criteria: has been championing and practicing quality for at least 5 years (30 points); has a missionary spirit in promoting the ideas parallel to those of Dr. Joseph Juran (25 points); has influenced the direction of a major organization in promoting quality (25 points); and can show positive results in his organization (20 points)

PSQ Objectives

The Society aims to promote quality awareness and practices in both the private and public sectors through seminars, conferences, publications and awareness campaigns, promote the development of members in quality leadership and technology, advocate total quality management and recognition of outstanding quality companies as a way of institutionalizing quality, link with international organizations for updates in recent trends and latest technologies.
