NQF 2009

Greetings to All!
It was a successful 21ST NATIONAL QUALITY FORUM last September 17
to 18, 2009. This we owe to all our speakers and participants, sponsors,
exhibitors and event management partners.
As we linked with each other, we learned:
■ How a large manufacturer links with experts from developed countries
using available technologies(Ms. Imelda Centeno), while the simple
entrepreneur links with God, believing that we reap what we sow
(Ms. Patricia Paterno). Both use innovative ways in dealing with their
people.
■ Three entrepreneurs shared their journey to success through providing
products and services. (Ms. Yolanda Sevilla, Pinky Tobiano, Yolanda
Pajaro). They have survived the economic downturn because of their
quality practices.
■ How team problem solving tools brought down defect levels at Littelfuse
thus bringing customer complaints down to zero. Their presentation was
given a silver award at the recent ASQ world quality conference in May
2009. (Littelfuse team)
■ How quality is used as a business leverage in a call center operation
with a lot of professionals who can provide quality services, and thus
preserve the integrity of the business. (Mr. Danilo Reyes)
■ How transformation has been achieved in about 30 government offices
through aspiring for and attaining ISO certification of their quality
management systems Mr. Antonio Kalaw); how strategic planning and
improvement of service delivery has made Quezon City more business-
friendly (Mr. Pacifico Maghacot).
■ How genuine Filipino scientists have developed a technique to assure
mangoes whole year round on our tables (Dr. Ramon Barba), and a
sex-reversal technique for tilapia to prevent overpopulation of ponds
(Dr. Rafael Guerrero), and a system for waterless transport of fish
shared by Prof Federico Gonzalez.
■ How St. Luke’s adherence to JCI assures us of quality treatment free from
medical errors, once we are admitted as patients in their hospitals.
(81,000 deaths are due to medical errors , according to Dr. Alejandro
Dizon)
■ How we can be more productive at work if we eat the foods with nutritional
quality (Dr. Romulo de Villa) and that strengthen our immune systems.
Toxins from “wrong foods” can build up in our bodies and cause serious
sicknesses later on. (Ms. Bel Llige)
■ How to take better care of our environment, and to use Titus Salt’s model
village in England that brought down pollution in work areas.
(Ms. Anna Meloto-Wilks).
■ Macro innovative approaches from Hungary (Dr. Pal Molnar) and a specific
linking process to mobilize people to arrest downtrends in business from
Canada (Mr. Paul Quintal). Prof. Federico Gonzalez of AIM shared the
difference between Innovation for a recession, and Innovation in a
recession.
■ True leadership entails vision with sacrifices and self-renunciation.
Leaders are accountable to God and to the community.
(Fr. Armand Robleza).
All participants are enjoined to select the information they need from all the
presentations. Our task is not to inundate everyone with information, but
to set them on Fire.
Getting on Fire, keeping on Fire needs both a terrific energy and a high
positive attitude. Winners have Both. Let us be winners and neutralize the :
- Politicians – with low energy but high positive attitude;
- Losers –with low energy and low attitude;
- Skeptics – with high energy but low attitude.
As we stepped out of the conference, we suggested a new meaning for
Links, i.e.
L ive healthy and productive lives
I nject enthusiasm into our personal and work lives
N etwork with Role Models
K now your benchmarks
S erve well your customers, companies, country and our GOD.
And thus, Respond to the Challenges of Today!
